Moving Around

My friends are talking about God's blessings in their families. They mention the ways God is touching their lives. We all are gathered around one of our friends who is suffering from a past stroke. Half of his body is paralyzed. We encourage him. We cheer him up.

This story might sound like a group of pastors visiting one of their church members. It is not. I am with my High School friends, the 1979 Batchmates of ANHS. They are not even church goers, that is, going to a Protestant church. They are all catholics. Most of them are nominal Christians. What surprises me is that they are living out a life that is deeply spiritual and religious. I should not be surprised because we all know that the Holy Spirit is moving around the world, even among nominal catholics.

These past two weeks, I am here in the Philippines for some teaching opportunities, leading sessions on "How to Start a Missions program in Your Local Church." On the side, I also attended our high school reunion. Some of my old high school buddies, the 1979 Batchmates, are meeting together to plan and organize a charity work, an NGO, helping children suffering from CP (cerebral palsy). I am very encouraged. There is a positive response, and my friends are taking up the lead in starting this philanthropic organization. God is moving in our hearts. I am the only pastor in the group. But I see God is leading us. His Spirit is moving in our midst.
